-on E. J. Hughes... I met Hughes at the Duncan Doghouse 5 days before he died. I touched his shoulder and it was like touching an angel. I had always wanted to meet him and by chance he was there that day. We left to pay at the same time and I introduced myself. I pointed to the prints on the wall and said that Nanaimo Harbour had been my favorite. He said, 'It's mine too.' He also said that he thought some of the reproductions looked better than the originals. I thought that was a modest thing to say. (Brian Wallace)
